A new program every week

After class, in order to familiarize themselves with French culture and build on what they have learned whilst enjoying their free time, we offer seniors the opportunity to explore the region and discover its cultural diversity.

Each week is composed of 3 half-day or activities on weekdays and a full-day excursion at weekends.

Cultural activities or workshops

Each week a specific cultural activity is on offer for seniors, whether an introduction to petanque, a Provencal cooking workshop, local product tasting or a going to the movies or theater, the are all an opportunity to speak in French in a relaxed atmosphere.

Afternoon excursions

Twice a week seniors set out to explore the region by hiking the coastal path of the cap d’Antibes, exploring Grasse and the famous Fragonard perfumery, visiting Saint Paul de Vence and the Maeght Foundation or taking a guided tour of the streets of Cannes.

Weekend excursions

Seniors on the two-week program spend Saturday on a day trip exploring Nice or Monaco. Both excursions are an opportunity to explore iconic sites of the Côte d’Azur, visit a museum and purchase a few souvenirs.

Accommodation included

Aragon Residence

The Aragon residence is located a 15-minute walk from the school and offers fully renovated, comfortable studios in a quiet area close to the town centre and the beaches.

Why take a French course in the South of France as a fifty- or sixty-year-old?

How can you learn French when you have problems with your memory?

The brain treats information that is loaded with emotion as important. This is why you remember a class involving role play better than one where you are taught grammar theory.

Is it possible to learn French at the age of 50?

Yes, it is. And it is strongly recommended. Learning French is a very rewarding activity and numerous studies show that after the age of 50 learning a new language helps to combat stress, engages the brain and helps us to concentrate.

When is it too late to learn French?

It's never too late to learn a new language provided that certain criteria are met: being motivated, a learning environment that triggers positive emotion, not setting restrictive objectives and above all not setting limits. Our brain is smarter than we are.

I’m 60 years old: how can I learn French?

The best solution is probably to learn French as part of a friendly group. The Centre International d’Antibes organizes language holidays for seniors on the Côte d’Azur taught by French teachers.
