What is the TCF exam?
- TCF is a language test in standard French meant for non French speakers
- It allows you to evaluate your level of mastery in French language in a simple, fast and reliable manner.
- It is issued by the Centre International d'Etudes Pédagogiques (CIEP)
- The TCF is composed of three mandatory examinations and two complementary examinations.
The mandatory examinations present 80 multiple choice questions. The Complementary exams provide an opportunity for oral and written expression
Mandatory tests (1 hour and 30 minutes)
- French language oral comprehension (25 minutes)
- Structural and French grammatical skills (20 minutes)
- written comprehension (45 minutes) of French Language
Complementary tests (2 hours)
- French oral expression (15 minutes)
- French written expression (1 hour and 45 minutes)
- The TCF is a standard test (ISO 9001, 2000 version) with strict methodology. All the tests are corrected in accordance with stringent procedures
- This method allows for a reliable evaluation of the candidates' level of mastery based on the scale of 6 levels established by the European Council (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2).
- Each candidate will receive an attestation document indicating mastery level of general knowledge in French language with the results for each examination. Attestation is valid for 2 years
