Places to visit

The Eiffel TOWER

The Eiffel Tower was set up for the World Fair of 1889, in order to commemorate the centenary of the French revolution. It holds its name from, Gustave Eiffel, it's originator. It has a 320 meters height (1050 feet) and held the record of the highest construction of the world untill 1930.
Disapproved by the artistic and literary elite of Paris, the Eiffel Tower fared well in not being dismounted in 1909. It had escaped from this sad fate when it was discovered as the ideal place where to fix antennas needed for the new science of the time : radio telegraphy.
The Eiffel Tower has 3 levels, accessible by lifts or staircases. In the South-east of the Tower, is a great extent of lawn : the "Champ de Mars", where took place the firsts flights on montgolfier. Today, at its end, side of Trocadéro esplanade, the young people devote themselves to rollerblading, skateboarding...

Avenue des Champs Elysées

The Avenue of Champs Elysées symbolized the style and the joy in life of Paris. Drawn by Le Nôtre in 1694, The place was abounded with private Hotels and barouches.Today, there remains only one private Hotel. Marked out by the Arc de Triomphe and a obelisk, it is now the theatre of the great events such as the traditional military procession of july 14th. But the appearences of car exposures, showrooms, fast foods, cinemas have somewhat tarnished the reputation of the avenue. Nevertheless 2km long and 70m wide, it remains an ideal place to stroll in Hotels, bars, and different kind of stores opened late in the evenings and on sundays.

Place de la Concorde

The place had been created in order to receive the kings statue in 1757 , it takes the name of Place of Révolution in 1792 and and has been known as the theatre of executions. For those going up it's scaffold: Louis XVI, Marie-Antoinette, Danton, Robespierre, Saint Just, Lavoisier. The place acquires its current name after Terror, loses it and finds it back in 1830. in order to demystify this place of horror, Louis-Philippe had it renovated by the architect Jacques Ignace Hittorff who raised on the place, statues symbolizing important towns of France and designs fountains. in 1836, the obelisk of Louksor, high of 25m was erected. It dates from the eighth century B.C and offered to France by Méhemet Ali, vice king of egypt. The "Place de la Concorde" is the largest Parisian landmark, it is 360m long and of 210m wide.
