Every winter, for two weeks, Nice lives the lively rhythm of the greatest carnival in France. To everyone's wonder, Nice transforms itself into an imaginary kingdom: paper giants crisscross the roads, decorated floats parade while the pulsing musical street affair is showered with flowers under a sparkling dome of fireworks. A popular tradition turned irresistible gathering, the carnival of Nice with its sumptuous processions draws more than a million visitors each year.

 Theme
 The theme for 2007 is "The King of the Great Big Ruck." A sporting nod to the rugby world cup which will be played this year and a political wink to the upcoming French elections, there should be no shortage of characters parading up and down the English promenade.
Activities and events
Carnival parade – This year, as in others, imaginations will struggle to create the most original floats to cross the city. Numerous paper giants and thirty something floats will parade to the rhythm of music hailing from carnivals all over the world.
The battle of flowers – It's the symbol of the carnival of Nice: in the general jubilation, a giant battle of flowers erupts, dazzling the eyes and coloring the streets.
Fireworks – No fireworks, no festival: And at Nice, above the Mediterranean, the grand finale is twice as nice.
Program and prices
The 2007 carnival aims to return to its roots with more spaces open to the public. Face painting is provided for both young and old alike so that no one will be without a little festival cheer. It is still possible to grab a seat in the grandstand for an unbeatable view of the procession.
