Morning lessons
  • Oral skills and know-how : Notes and short letter writing
  • Grammar points
    - Present
    – Present perfect
    – Near future
    - Present conditional
    – Use of “tu” and “vous”
    - Uncountable nouns
    - Pronouns, possessive adjectives, prepositions
    - The interrogative form and negative form
    - Recent past, imperfect, simple future, imperative, introduction to the subjunctive
    - Personal pronouns, demonstrative adjectives, relative pronouns
    - Time and numbers
    – Making comparisons
    - Reported speech
    • Writing various messages (postcards, emails, invitations…)
    • Producing written work based on different instructions
    • Short informal letter writing
    • Very simple short dictation exercises

    You will be able to write simple, formal letters and adapt them to any given situation
  • Grammar skills you will learn+
    - Different hypotheses
    - Reported speech and its sequence of tenses
    - Past tenses and their sequence of tenses
    - Passive voice
  • Writing various messages: postcards, emails, invitations…
  • Producing written work based on different instructions
  • Very simple short dictation exercises

    - Everyday structures, express purpose
    - Present and past reported speech
    - Expression of time
    - Opposition/concession
  • Varied and interactive exercises : Opinion surveys at CIA
  • Visit to Antibes or its surroundings with :
    - Prepared targeted questionnaires
    - A summary to write
    - Articles to write for the school’s newspaper
  • Daily homework

  • Writing skills:
    - Formal letter writing
    - Short letter writing
    - Detailed report writing
  • Grammar points
    - Consolidation of common past tenses
    - Conditional tense and when to use it
    - Consolidation of possessive, demonstrative, personal and object pronouns and prepositions.
    - Descriptive adjectives, common adverbs
    – Common use of the subjunctive
    - Consolidation of relative pronouns.
    – Everyday structures
    - Express purpose (verbal and nominal)
    – Reported speech in past and present tenses
    - Expression of time
    - Opposition/concession, the “si” clause
    – Past participle agreement
    - Passive voice
    • Varied and interactive exercises based on articles, reports, film extracts, adverts and other documents :
      - Various letters and written work which have been adapted to suit the situation
      - Film reviews, résumés, development of CV
      - Logical series to create
    • Opinion survey at CIA
    • Visit to Antibes or its surroundings with :
      - prepared targeted questionnaires
      - a summary to write
      - Articles to write for the school’s newspaper

  • Grammar points +
    - Double object pronouns, compound relative pronouns

    - Writing a text
    - General formal correspondence

  • Writing skills:
    -     Structure a formal letter, a report, a story
    - Do a plan, an introduction, a summary and a conclusion
    - Write a CV, a letter
    - Translate a short extract from a novel

    - Consolidation of the conditional, sequence of tenses, past participle, hypotheses, the different uses of the subjunctive
    - Express doubt, uncertainty…
    - Connectives
    - Double object pronouns, compound relative pronouns
    - Reported speech, morphology of slang
    - Formal correspondence
    - CV and covering letters
    - Articles for the school newspaper
    - Games and research activities on the internet
    - Designing tests, quizzes
    - Story writing, articles about various subjects, in groups
